District 21 Earns Toastmasters International's District Club Growth Award
District 21 has received Toastmasters International's District Club Growth Award, recognizing the district's success in chartering new clubs during the first quarter of the 2026-2027 program year. The award was confirmed on October 12, 2026, with a letter of congratulations from International President Stefano McGhee and an official certificate.
The recognition comes barely three months into the term. It reflects work that began on July 1, when the district's new leadership team took office with club growth as an early priority.
Building clubs that last
The achievement is led by Club Growth Director Ahmed Hussain and his team, who have worked together since the start of the term to bring 4 new clubs through to charter.
Chartering is only the first step. Each new club is paired with a Club Mentor, an experienced Toastmaster who supports its officers through their first months as they establish meetings, welcome members, and build the habits that make a club self-sustaining. This continuing support is central to the district's approach: the aim is not only to open clubs, but to ensure they are still thriving years from now.
District Director Melody Helleouet credited the Club Growth team for the result, recognizing both their success in completing new charters and their commitment to the clubs after launch.
Recognition from Toastmasters International
In his response to the district, President McGhee described the award as clear evidence of the work under way in District 21. He noted that a start this strong, this early in the year, positions the district for an exceptional finish, and he encouraged its members to set their own course for success.
Looking ahead
With the first quarter behind it, District 21 moves into the second quarter of the term with momentum, and with the same goal of making Toastmasters accessible to more communities across British Columbia and Yukon.
Every member has a part to play in that growth:
Invite a guest. Every new member, and every new club, begins with an invitation.
Suggest a new club. If you know a workplace, campus or community organization that would benefit from a Toastmasters club, contact the Club Growth team at @email.
Become a Club Mentor. Experienced members can help a new club establish itself during its first months.
District 21 congratulates Ahmed Hussain, the Club Growth team, and every member and club officer who helped welcome new people to Toastmasters this year.
